There’s nothing quite like watching someone move through life on their own terms. My friend Jess is one of those people.

She carries a full and fascinating life with her—one that can’t be reduced to a single aesthetic. That’s part of what photography means to me. Images have a way of flattening people if we let them—distilling a life into one outfit, one expression, one version of themselves. The result can feel more like a curated catalog than an honest reflection.
